Abstract: This study examined the influence of facilitating conditions, moderated by school type, on adopting
electronic textbooks in Dar es Salaam–Tanzania. The survey research design was used to collect data
and assess study hypotheses. Proportionate stratification and simple random sampling were applied to
choose the number of schools and 370 respondents from advanced-level students using closed-ended
questions. The data were analyzed through multi-regression analysis where descriptive and inferential
statistics were done with the aid of SPSS version 26. The pilot study, consultations with other
researchers in the same field, and Cronbach's Alpha were used to determine the reliability and validity
of the study. Results from the study revealed that facilitating conditions had a statistically significant
positive relationship with students’ behavioural intention to adopt e-textbooks (BIAET). Similarly,
school type played a statistically significant moderating role in the relationship between Facilitating
Conditions and behavioral intention to adopt e-textbooks. This study has practical implications for
school-type administration and electronic textbook developers in encouraging e-textbook adoption
motives to Advanced-level students in Tanzania. It suggests providing reliable internet, devices,
expertise, and facilities and improving e-textbook platforms to meet the needs of Generation students |
