Abstract: People with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) often lack the appropriate communication skills
necessary for school learning and social achievement. The article provides a detailed technical
characterization of a promising technique to improve communication skills in high-functioning young
people with ASD. The technique used is Comic Strip Conversations (CSC), in which visual
representations (drawings, images, written words, etc.) provide a framework for conversation. In this
article, casework is discussed, and preliminary data suggest that the technique is appropriate for
promoting conversation skills in young people with ASD. |
