Abstract: This study has as its focal point, The Assessment of the Implementation of mother-tongue or the
Language of the Immediate Community at the early childhood/pre-primary level of education. The
study will adopt a cross-sectional design as well as a quantitative descriptive survey. The multistage
stratified random sampling strategy will be employed to select 735 pupils sample populations from
49 schools in the North- Western Nigeria comprising Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto,
Zamfara and Kebbi States.
Three questionnaires with an interview schedule will be used as instrument that will enable the
construction of the data collection. The interview schedule will be used to collect information from
pre-primary school teachers. The questionnaire for parents would be used as an interview schedule
that will enable the eliciting of information from parents. The third questionnaire will be used for
Head Teachers of pre-primary schools.
Descriptive statistics will be used to analyze research questions and chi-square statistics will be used
to test hypothesis at 0.05 of significance. The findings at the end of the study will be adequately
reported and subsequently, some recommendations will be made. |
