Abstract:
The financial management of any business is the starting point of the success or failure of the business. The financial management of the private schools in Obio-Akpor was the main investigation of this research work. A total of seventy eight (78) proprietors/administrators formed the sample population of this study which is a descriptive survey. The respondents reacted to the three research questions that guided the research work via a well structured fifteen (15) item research questionnaire. The work was also guided by a null hypothesis that stated that there is no significant relationship between accountancy education and proper financial management of private primary schools in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. The statistical tools used for this research work were Mean, Standard Deviation, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and F-ratio at P > 0.05 level of significance. The results showed that most of the private primary schools in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area do not utilize basic accounting principles but are in concordance with the benefits from utilizing basic accounting principles and procedures.
